Default Assistance identifying a Sgt Pilot

Can anyone help with the identity of a Sergeant Pilot by the name of A E Willie? He flew his 'second dickie' operation with 78 Squadron on 11th February 1943 and may be from 429 Squadron. I have drawn a blank in the databases on here and also in AIR 78 which only lists one A.E. WILLIE with an enlistment number linked to enlistments in December of 1944 in the West Indies. It is quite possible that the initials in the ORB are incorrect.

    Any suggestions appreciated.

    Thanks
    Daz

    Daz,
I can't answer this, but might it be worth starting a thread entitled "78 Sqn personnel queries" (or similar), as I have noticed you have loads of similar questions?
At least it would keep all of your queries together.
A thread called "Assistance identifying a Sgt Pilot" gives absolutely no clues about what it's about.
If you don't want to have one thread, maybe "Sgt A E Willie 78 Sqn" or "Sgt A E Willie" would at least ensure than anyone browsing thread titles might see it.
    Regards,
    Andy

    Andy,
Thanks, he wasnít really 78 Squadron in the sense that he doesnít appear to have been posted onto the Squadron, he seems to have been attached from either a Conversion Unit or another Squadron. I mentioned 429 Squadron as other pilots operating as second pilots on the same or similar dates all seem to come from or go on to serve with 429. As I mentioned in my first post I canít find him in any of the usual databases, ORBs etc., he just seems to disappear.

    Regards

    Daz,

The No 429 Squadron ORB has a Sgt Pilot named E. Willey flying gardening ops to Nectarine 2 25/26 February 1943.

    Regards,

    Dave

    Dave, Mojmir,

thank you both, great work and much appreciated. I hadn't seen the 429 page before and have kept a record of it for future checks.

    Thanks again

    Daz
