    Very many thanks for that explanation. An interesting field of research; certainly no slight or sarcasm intended in my post - just wondered what the reason was...

    In my "Volunteering" activities at the Brooklands museum, I find much intersting information in the old copies of "Flight" and "The Aeroplane" magazines. Feel free to post requests/info......

    Hello

    AC2 Charles R. CHAPPELL - 1466874 - the National Probate Calendar records that he died at the Base Hospital, Driffield.

    LAC Eric A. DAWES - 1154515 - the National Probate Calendar records that he died at the Royal Naval Hospital, Plymouth.

    AC2 Harry RITZ - 1032656 - Hyman "Harry" Ritz - see his entry on the findagrave wesbite:

    FreBMD has him as Hyman Rity, aged 26, registered Birmingham, Dec. 1941. His headstone states "Died on Active Service."

    LAC (pilot u/t) Gordon W. GRIFFITHS - 1315678 - the Graves Registration Report Form lists his unit as 3 S.F.T.S., which would link him to the Oxford N6267/R6072 accident.

    UPGRADE to Harry Ritz 1032656, attached to number 1 AACU, he died in Dudley Road hospital, Birmingham of sub acute bacterial endcarditis

    Eric Arthur Dawes 11545151 , attached to Number 78 Signals Wing ( ? ) was injured in an Airscrew accident at RAF Harrowbeer at 11:45 Hours, taken to SSQ, he was transferred to the RN hospital at Plymouth where he died at 13:00 hours with his father, F.A Dawes of Clifton Street, Stourbridge, at his bedside

    645745 Leading Aircraftman Robert Wilberforce HORSFIELD

    Contrary to an earlier post, which suggests he was lost at sea aboard HMS Argus, LAC Horsfield is shown in the Navy death records as dying in the Gateside Hospital, Greenock, on 26 October 1941, from tubercular meningitis.
