I've HARRIS, SALTER, WAKELIN and WILSON (and also Sgt K.J. JONES - 550677) on A&AEE Lancaster R5539 (crashed Charlton, 2 miles NE of Malmesbury, Wiltshire).

Just to add to the problem, all the following were registered in Chippenham: -
BILTON, RICHARD LEWIS
HARRIS, JACK DONALD DFC
SALTER, PETER STANLEY AFC
TRACEY, ANDREW NICHOLAS
WAKELIN, PERCY FREDERICK
WILSON, NORMAN GLADSWOOD
So could they all have been involved?

Henk, regarding the Oxford AP598 I have the aircraft as crashing in the undershoot area. Crew not being seriously injured. Names of W Edmond and W H Griffith, sadly no ranks.
It seems likely that Griffith(s) is the same man as killed flying in Beaufighter X7698 which crashed near Pocklington, Yorkshire on 7th Nov 1942 and also who had force landed Beaufighter X7706 near Thirsk on 9th Aug 42. Both Beaufighter incidents being at 25 Sqdn.

AC1 Alexander O'MARA - 1143077 Was killed at RAF Ossington when part of a hangar door fell while being lifted into position , hitting him on the head. Died of a fractured skull and brain lacerations. Husband of Sarah O'Mara, of 14 Rodney Street Oldham Road Manchester.

Section Offr WAAF Edith M. BURROWS - 3139 - the National Probate Calendar records that she died at Westhampnett, Sussex.
AC2 Goffrey LANCKHAM - 1535440 - the Lincolnshire Standard & Boston Guardian of April 25th 1942 reported the following:
DEATH - A.C.2 Geoffrey Lanckham, R.A.F., aged 20, only son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Lanckham, of 31, Hessle Drive, Boston, died in a military hospital on Saturday, after a short illness.

Geoffrey Lanckham 1535440 , attached to Number 6 Signals School, died in Townleys Hospital, Bolton at 08:25 Hours of pylephlebytis
