I have carried out an extended date search for John Hartley 1484663 and no sign of a record of him via Scotland's People.

    Hello

AC2 John HARTLEY - 1484663 - the Scotsman of June 13th 1942 reported the following:

    TWO DROWNED WHEN BOAT SINKS
Two young men who were drowned on Whitsunday at a bathing resort at Brampton, Cumberland, [Talkin Tarn] were stated at the inquest yesterday to have been in a boat which developed a leak and sank. They were with a party of seven who went out in two boats.
When their boat began to sink, the four occupants jumped out, and Aircraftman John Cecil Hartley (20), Sherwood House, Staindrop, near Durham, and James William Jepson, forester, of Old Lodge, Raby Park, Staindrop, were drowned.
The Coroner, returning a verdict of accidental death, said "I do not find that the boat was unseaworthy."

AC1 Neil SHEDDEN - 1067663 - the Statutory Deaths Register on the Scotland's People website records that he died at 3.12 a.m. at Hairmyres Hospital, due to pulmonary TB.

    Regards

    Simon
