Frank Sutcliffe 947630 , attached to Number 53 RSU, was seriously injured and unable to move below the shoulders when he dived into shallow water on 25 May. Admitted to Number 2 Indian CCS he was transported to Number 58 General hospital with his head restrained between sandbags but died 1 hour after admission. His prognosis was poor but it was felt that the lack of adequate immobilization and rough road journey had proved fatal. A post mortem found complete fractures of the 5th cervical vertebrae with a pulped spinal cord and the free fragment of spine had been forced down by jolting

George Harold Bessant 140917 , attached to Draft 3942 , was landed seriously ill at Alexandria, where he died at Number 13 General hospital.

There was No cause of death stated in his records, so a GRO overseas death certificate was purchased by myself and he died of typhoid fever
