Hello Steve
We were unable to determine anything more than the details above, i.e. his location of death registration.
For a start, is this man listed on the CWGC website yoru grandfather
http://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/2351061/LEE,%20HAROLD
i.e. - Was Agnes Maud Lee your gand mother?
You would be best to obtain his death certificate from the gro.gov.uk website using the following details from the death register index:
Harold LEE
Age 37
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1942
Age at Death: 37
Registration district: Isle of Wight
Inferred County: Hampshire
Volume: 2b
Page: 864
Note that he died in the IofW which was per the CWGC the place of residence of his parents at least. The death certificate will give the medical reasons for death and I'd suspect that you will find it may have been a death from natural cause rather than by enemy action, but I'm only guessing. We coudl not find his name on offcial casualty lists.
the other thing you need to get is his service record and if your mum is alive then she needs to be the name requesting it, see details on how to at the UK veterans agency website:
http://www.veterans-uk.info/service_records/service_records.html
And there is no need to use the quote function if your replying, we will know what yoru replying to:
http://www.rafcommands.com/forum/showthread.php?9289-Use-of-Quote-Function
And if you get a reply from the GRO and RAF please let us know here on the forum what the cuase of death etc was.
Happy New Year
Dennis
