A - Killed on active service:
Sgt (Pilot) Robert I. (Flight R.I.D.) FORSYTH - 1371581, and
Sgt (Ba) William A. GLOVER - 535569.

B - Died on active service:
W/O George GOLDSBOROUGH - 512402.

C - Not found in Flight archives (may have been listed on an unreadable scanned page):
AC1 Harold LEE - 1048373 - age 37.

D - Proposed aircraft losses:
Hector I - K8145 - 4 GTS - crashed on landing Kidlington.
Master I - T8763 - 9 (P)AFU - crashed in forced landing Cowford Farm, Perth.
Spitfire IIA - P7549 - 57 OTU - collided with Spitfire P7598, both aircraft crashed Green Farm, High Kinnerton, Flintshire.
Spitfire IIA - P7598 - 57 OTU - see P7549; it's known that on one of these Spitfires F/Sgt John L.D. BROPHY - RCAF R/88425, was killed.

You have Brophy for the Spitfire collision, he was 22 and registered at Hawarden, Flintshire.Also registered there is Forsyth,20, which could put him on the other Spitfire
Glover,25, registered at Louth, Lincolnshire
Goldsborough,31, registered at York
Lee,37, registered on the Isle of Wight,aCounty Authority in it's own right from 1935

Henk, looked up Goldsborough in the Malton Mercury paper, which states he died in York Military Hospital. Which was in Fulford, York.

No mention of why this was sadly, only mentioned in brief in the notices section.

i am trying to find out any info about Aircraftman 1st Class Harold RAF Volunteer reserve - died 16/8/42
full name: Harold Charles Lee - born 1904 - Cowes/Isle of wight.

We don't know much about him - he is my grandfather who i never knew and neither did my mum as she was 1 when he died. Interested to know how he died, where etc.

We were unable to determine anything more than the details above, i.e. his location of death registration.

For a start, is this man listed on the CWGC website yoru grandfather

i.e. - Was Agnes Maud Lee your gand mother?

You would be best to obtain his death certificate from the gro.gov.uk website using the following details from the death register index:

Harold LEE
Age 37
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1942
Age at Death: 37
Registration district: Isle of Wight
Inferred County: Hampshire
Volume: 2b
Page: 864

Note that he died in the IofW which was per the CWGC the place of residence of his parents at least. The death certificate will give the medical reasons for death and I'd suspect that you will find it may have been a death from natural cause rather than by enemy action, but I'm only guessing. We coudl not find his name on offcial casualty lists.

the other thing you need to get is his service record and if your mum is alive then she needs to be the name requesting it, see details on how to at the UK veterans agency website:

Warrant Officer 512402 George Goldsborough (my Great Uncle) died at York hospital following a road traffic accident. He was serving with 72 Signals Wing, whatever that means, and had previously been based at Danby Beacon (early Radar?) with 78 Signals Wing.
