    Default 421019 - Unaccounted airwoman and airmen - 19-10-1942

    What were the places of death registration for:

    A - Died on active service:
    ACW2 Grace CADDICK - 450565 (pres. posted Stradishall, Suffolk).

    B - Killed on active service:
    LAC James B. GARNER - 984953.

    C - Not found in Flight archives:
    AC1 Oliver CURTIS - 863404 - age 52, and
    F/Lt (Pilot/Instr.) Basil J.A. RENNIE - MC - 87414 (from S.Africa) - pres. posted with a Hampden unit (144 Sqn ?) and buried Cottesmore (St.Nicholas) Churchyard Extension, Rutland.

    D - Also looking for the unit and possible cause of death of:
    Sgt Roger NICHOLSON - 1152581 - buried Cambridge City Cemetery (there is a Sgt R. Nicholson listed as 'missing believed killed in action' in Casualty Communiqé 176, Flight 26-11-1942, pp.593).

    E - Proposed aircraft losses:
    Beaufighter II.F - R2437 - 54 OTU - crashed in forced landing near Duns, Berwickshire.
    Hurricane I - W9135 - 59 OTU - crashed in forced landing 1 mile W of Northam, Northumberland.
    Hurricane I - V6606 - 288 Sqn - engine caught fire after take-off for AA co-op flight; abandoned near Bottesford.
    Master I - T8382 - 7 AACU - broke up in air over Aldershot, Hampshire.
    Gipsy Moth - AW160 - 4 AOS - crashed on landing West Freugh.
    Spitfire V.B - AR454 - 164 Sqn - crashed on landing Peterhead.

    Hi Henk
    Grace Caddick,19,registered at Newmarket, Suffolk.The list for Newmarket includes Stradishall
    Garner,24, registered at Surrey S W
    Curtis,52, registered at Portsmouth, Hampshire
    Rennie,30, registered at Sleaford and W Kesteven. Chorley has him in the Roll of Honour as being with 14 OTU but there doesn't seem to be a corresponding a/c loss in Vol 3(1942) or Vol 7 (OTU)
    On CWGC there is a Roger Edwin Nicholson, no age, on 19/10/42,buried in Cambridgeshire and I found a registration for a Roger E Nicholson,22, at Wenlock, Shropshire. ? Cosford Hospital

    Found a F/Lt B.J.A. RENNIE - MC, in Flight 28-1-1943 (Communiqué No. 193) as DOAS.

    AC1 Oliver CURTIS - 863404 - the Hampshire Telegraph of October 30th 1942 reported the following:

    DEATH OF MR. O. CURTIS
    mr. Oliver Curtis, of 21, Elms Road, Fareham, aged 52 years, died after a short illness at the Royal Portsmouth Annex and was buried at the Fareham Cemetery yesterday week....Mr. Curtis was an ex-R.A.F. and R.E., and a member of the C.R.A.F.A.

    George Slater Charleson 1069897, attached to 101 MU, drowned, on leave, whilst bathing at Stanley Bay, Alexandria, his remains being transferred to Number 64 general hospital

    UPGRADE to George Keith Preston C 4792 , attached to the general list as a pilot, he died in RCAF station hospital, Trenton of a pulmonary embolism and an appendicitial abscess following an appendectomy

    Grace Caddick 450565 , an ACH/GD attached to Bomber Command at RAF Stradishall, was seriously injured in an accident on the Newmarket to Cambridge road at 18:20 hours dying in White Lodge hospital, Newmarket at 22:10 hours

    Frank Edward Flower 1204796 , attached to Number 63 RSU , was admitted seriously ill to Number 63 general hospital on 15 October, becoming dangerously ill the following day , dying of dystentry bacillary exudate
