    Cpl Edmund W. WHEELER - 933363 - age 29.

    Hi Henk
Marguerite Burge,22,as Dennis says is registered at Chichester in the 2nd Qtr of 1943.If you have her death as unnatural then the delay probably springs from a Coroner's or Police investigation, perhaps both

    Hello

Cpl Edmund W. WHEELER - 933363 - the Croydon Roll of Honour memorial book on ancestry.co.uk has the following:

    WHEELER, EDMUND WILSON, Cpl., R.A.F.
    b. Selhurst, 28 Aug., '13.
    Res. 18, Brading Rd.
Educ. Tavistock Sch. Capt. of football and Sec. of Social Section, Croydon Adult School
    Ser. 2 1/2 yrs.
    D. Horton Hosp, Epsom, from natural causes, 31 Jan., '43.

G/Cpt Frederick G. SHERRIFF - the National Probate Calendar confirms that he died at Cosford.

ACW1 Marguerite B. BURGE - 2014522 - her death was widely reported in the press at the time. For the record, she was found with severe head injuries and stab wounds in a hedge near Goodwood, and died soon afterwards in hospital in Chichester. On July 10th 1943, Charles Arthur Raymond, a French-Canadian soldier, was executed at Wandsworth Prison for her murder.

    Regards

    Simon
