    Default 430214 - Unaccounted airwoman and airmen - 14-2-1943

    What were the places of death registration for:

    A - Died on active service:
    Cpl (WAAF) Kathleen M. DICKSON - 428865.

    B - Killed on active service:
    LAC Eric SMITH - 993113 - 406 Sqn (Middle Wallop, Hampshire), and
    F/O (Pilot) Andrew V.S. WILSON - 119158.

    C - Not found in Flight archives:
    S/Ldr Herbert E. OSMOND - 84174, and
    AC1 Vernon L. PRIEST - 1300482.

    D - Proposed aircraft losses:
    Hurricane I - P2799 - 56 OTU - crashed in forced landing East Flisk, 8 miles N of Cupar, Fifeshire.
    Lysander III - V9675 - 5 GTS - crashed on landing 1 mile W of Shobdon.
    Mustang I - AG400 - 41 OTU - flew into high ground Jubilee Tower, Moel Farnau, Cilcain, Denbighshire.
    Wellington III - HF749 - 1 OADU - crashed on approach Portreath.

    Priest....Birmingham.
    Wilson....Ruthin, Clwyd.

    Have you got H.E.Osmond right, as no trace, even in CWGC. Got him!! H.E. Ormond....Chichester.

    Thanks Alan; F/O WILSON may have been on the Mustang as his registration was in Ruthin what is in Denbighshire.

    Hi Henk
    Ruthin was in Denbighshire up to 1974 when the Welsh Counties were reshaped and given names that better reflected the Welsh language.Denbighshire became incorporated in the modern county of Clwyd.

    Just for confirmation, Wilson was with No.41 OTU when he was killed, February 14th 1943, P/O Wilson (68 Course) killed in a flying accident.

    Hello

    S/Ldr Herbert E. ORMOND - 84174 - the National Probate Calendar records that he died at the Royal West Sussex Hospital, Chichester. A biography on ancestry.co.uk records that he was Acting Chief Controller at Tangmere.

    UPGRADE to Kathleen Mary Dickson, 428865, a nursing orderly attached to Number 44 group, her initial operation in RAF hospital Innsworth was for a pelvic infection
