    Default 430321 - Unaccounted airmen - 21-3-1943

    What were the places of death registration for:

    A - Not found Flight Global:
    LAC (Pilot u/t) James J. BENNETT - 1586583, and
    LAC Morris JACKSON - 1517744.

    B - Killed on active service:
    P/O (Nav/WOp) Thomas K. HALLIWELL - 134702.

    C - Died on active service:
    LAC William HOWARD - 993714, and
    AC1 Glyndwr LEE - 1412275.

    D - Proposed aircraft losses:
    Master I - T8691 - 8 (C)OTU - flew into ground Netherleask Farm, 5 miles ENE of Ellon, Aberdeenshire.
    Master III - W8506 - 16 (P)FTS - crashed in forced landing Victoria Inn, Hepworth, near Penistone, Yorkshire.
    Sunderland II - T9111 - 461 Sqn - crashed on take-off Hamworthy.
    Tiger Moth II - T6966 - 15 EFTS - crashed on take-off Kirkpatrick LG.
    Tiger Moth II - T7260 - 18 EFTS - undershot landing Merrow LG, Surrey.

    Re: Sunderland I T9111.

    On 21st March (1943), Flight Lieutenant F Manger* and crew in Sunderland T9111 (UT-C) crashed on take-off from Poole. Although there were only minor injuries to the crew, the aircraft was completely destroyed.

    * AUS401072 F/Lt Frederick Vass MANGER RAAF.

    LAC (Pilot u/t) James J. BENNETT - 1586583 - can't seem to find him anywhere, not an ancestry.co.uk, nor on FreeBMD or Scotland's People. His unit on the CWGC website is 17 E.F.T.S.

    LAC Morris JACKSON - 1517744 - the National Probate Calendar records that he died at the Royal Infirmary, Manchester.

    LAC William HOWARD - 993714 - the National Probate Calendar records that he died at Stockton and Thornaby Hospital, Co. Durham.

    AC1 Glyndwr LEE - 1412275 - registered Forest of Dean, Glos.

    Bennett, Leading Aircraftman James William, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve (1586583), Pilot under training, 17 Elementary Flying Training School, Royal Canadian Air Force, Stanley, Nova Scotia, Canada, Canada 21 March 1943, Died of Injuries, Finch II 4754, Crashed during a forced landing due to fuel starvation on take off on a night circuit training flight on 8 March 1943, the instructor pilot survived. Age 26, Kingswood, Glos, Bristol (Avon View) Cemetery.

    Donald Newell 1002288 , attached to a Number 2 ADU , was admitted seriously ill to Number 91 General hospital on 11 March, where he died of infective hepatitis

    P/703795 Josef Skibinski died in the Middleton Sanatorium, Ilkley, Yorkshire, of pulmonary tuberculosis
